    29 February 2012

    Info for teams attending Regionals

    Regional dates
The date for your team(s) to compete at Regional Final stage have been emailed to your teachers - if  your not sure when your team are competing email f1@ics.ie Qualifying teams will go forward to the National final on 26th April in Griffith College Dublin.
At each regional punctuality is important and set up will start at 8am, all teams must be ready by 9am with their pit display in place. Racing and judging will commence at 9.30am.

    Car Painting
Please make sure when painting your cars to seal off the canister hole to ensure no paint enters, otherwise their car is in breach of regulations.

    Portfolio
Remember each team must produce a design folder of work including initial ideas, design development and evidence of testing. An orthographic projection (including a plan, side and end elevation) of their product, a 3D rendering and assembly drawing all completed using a CAD software package must also be submitted in your design folder. These documents should be submitted in an A3 sized portfolio and displayed in the pit's area for the duration of the race event. Folders should contain a maximum of 20 A3 sheets total.

    Website
For teams submitting a team website this year we will be requesting the URL for your website in advance of the regional final. The websites will be judged prior to the Regional final. Please have all URL’s with F1 in Schools (f1@ics.ie) Monday 12th March 2012. The website is an optional part of the competition.

    Rules and Regulations Updated
The Rules have been updated on the website, any rule changes have been highlighted in blue. The Marking Schemes are included in both the D-type and Formula One type car Rules and teams should read these for each of the specific areas of the competition carefully to understand exactly what the judges will be looking for.

    PR
If your teams Marketing and Communications Manager haven’t contacted f1@ics.ie for their counties media contacts, please get them to do so now.
Teams should also think now of putting together their press release on car manufacture (press release #3  and #4 from the Marketing Guide).
At the Regional final each team should:
    • Bring your own laptop, if your team requires one on your stand
    • Save your verbal presentation onto a memory stick
    • Each team is provided with a display board (exact size will be confirmed next week).
    • Each team will be provided with access to one power source, if your display will need more, please bring your own extension leads.
    • Register all team members names online at www.F1inSchools.ie Teacher or Team Manager forgot login details? email f1@ics.ie
    • Create a list of any press coverage or any radio interviews and if you can have a copy of the radio interview.
